Check Email With Cac Reader For Mac

I am in the military and use my CAC to log into military sites and digitally sign documents. I read somewhere that all the architecture for a CAC reader is already embedded on a Mac but I can't seem to make it work. I love my Mac and would really like to be able to do EVERYTHING on it instead of having to revert to Windows for certain things. I have seen Macs being used in the workplace in the Army while using a CAC reader and card, but no one has been able to tell me how it was done. If anyone has any advice or can point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.

I am in the military and use my CAC to log into military sites and digitally sign documents. I read somewhere that all the architecture for a CAC reader is already embedded on a Mac but I can't seem to make it work. The SCR3500 is a good choice, but the CAC software that's out there can be a bit flaky. Sometimes reboots are required for the card to be recognized, etc. One major problem to be aware of is that S/MIME (encrypted email) is only supported under Internet Explorer, which require Windows. As I stated in my question, I have a Mac computer. Not a PC, and not Windows. Which also means I dont have Internet Explorer. And my certs work fine, Ive been using my CAC reader for 2 years with no issues. Insert your CAC into the CAC reader The yellow light on the CAC reader should blink rather than remain a solid yellow If the yellow light blinks on the CAC reader, then the computer has added the smart card as a device and the card will work properly.

Centrify Express for Smart Card is a complimentary version of the same enterprise-hardened Centrify Smart Card technology used in federal agencies that require authentication for CAC, CAC NG, and PIV smart cards.
